There's a big billboard here in KC for the Kauffman Foundation's Education Startup Funding program. I thought "heck, that would be awesome, to be backed by the Kauffman Foundation!". Then I looked into it, you pretty much have to live in the ghetto to be involved in the program. Well, my wife wasn't too keen on moving to the ghetto, so I guess I'll try somewhere else.

- megamark16 16y agoI am.
- hnal943 16y agoAnyone living in the ghetto currently also has a choice.
- _pius 16y agoThe nerve of them, trying to encourage entrepreneurs to come to "the ghetto." How dare they want to spur economic growth among those ... people!
- hnal943 16y agoIf the startups are not founded by "those people" in the ghetto, they will be unaffected by its presence.
- _pius 16y agoThat's just not true ... bringing new businesses to an economically depressed area helps all of the existing businesses.
- hnal943 16y agoHow does a tech startup that employs a few highly skilled people affect people the surrounding area?
- _pius 16y agoIf you're lucky the employees spend money in the area and move there. Also the business is likely to use local vendors, even if it's just the Kinko's and grocery store. That's all just for starters. It's pretty much a guaranteed net positive.
