I thought the first paragraph of the original article (from essential.com) explained things pretty clearly:

- dang 7y agoThat's fair. On reflection I suppose I was reacting mostly to the title and the fact that comments like https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22311295 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22311295 and https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22311297 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22311297 were showing up in the thread. Perhaps a title change would have sufficed in this case. When I said that the genre of official corporate announcements tends not to have a great track record, I was speaking generally.
