Would be better to spend that on robotic exploration. More probes to other planets, the Sun, asteroids etc. and space telescopes. Much greater scientific return on the dollar.

- baq 7y agoif you put a scientist with a shovel and a lab kit on the surface of mars, he'd do more science in a week than all the robots we've sent there to date.
- ljf 7y agoBut what would the cost to put a scientist on Mars for a week vs all the robotic missions we've sent so far? Which of those missions does the human mission require as a sunk cost?
