Agree that it’s a pain when it happens (the gate delay) but Heathrow closes at night so these are some of the first flights to land so it might not be much of a problem.
All the morning (evening departures) transatlantic flights I’ve been on west -> East have arrived suspiciously early too so I suspect there’s some schedule padding going on...
- chipsa 7y agoThey schedule the flights months out. The know how fast the jet stream is going maybe a couple days out. So yes, schedule padding to make sure a weak jet stream doesn't cause people to miss connections.
