Lots of people seem to think that the specific set of skills they possess is unique, extremely under-valued and completely necessary to the survival of the human race.
I shall call this phenomenon occupational narcissism.
- jessedhillon 16y agoName a job that is "completely necessary" to the survival of the human race. The only one I can think of being remotely close to that standard is a farmer.
- dragons 16y agoDo we really need farmers if we can hunt and gather? :)
- ericd 16y agoWe do when there are this many people on the planet :(
- narkee 16y agoThere isn't one. That was my point, I guess - that people often grossly overvalue themselves. The only thing I can think of is "mother", but that's a cheeky answer.
