the danger from a cyclist running a red light is mostly to the cyclist It's also dangerous to pedestrians. I see cyclists run red lights with pedestrians in the crosswalk almost every day, and many of them seem to assume that people will stop walking and yield to them. If somebody doesn't notice the cyclist then this can easily lead to a collision.
