I have consulted with multiple software companies, two of which got acquired for millions of dollars, where the CEO could not connect to WIFI on a mac. I also personally know a CEO of a medical device company (software based programmable IVs, whose company was also very successful) who didnt even know how to use email. He would have his secretary print out the email, he would write a response, and she would type it up and send it. I'm not saying these are the norm per say, but it's possible to be the CEO of the software company and been technically illiterate.
