Theres two catholic churches in Poland. One consists of a minority of hardcore evangelicals and the other is just normal christian people who are quite reasonable. Unfortunately, unlike in the US, these two groups are forced to coexist as a single entity and are governed by the first kind of church. But this is changing with the second group simply leaving altogether, slowly but steadily. edit: btw, John Paul II was from the first group.
