It’s this kind of stuff that makes it easier for me to understand how people voted for Trump. Even if it’s not meant to be, it really feels like an attack on all the men working in tech, rather than the few bad individuals or few bad companies that are truly guilty. When Liberals are too loose with the term “racist,” and essentially use it as a synonym for “white” or “conservative,” it makes people feel a sense of undeserved hatred and resentment directed at them just because of who they are or what they believe in. Using the term “sexist” and “toxic” when talking about culture in tech is going to make a lot of men here feel the same way.
Silicon Valley is making a huge effort to be a welcoming place for women and minorities, and I hope it does even more. I don’t think these types of books that make broad generalizations about people in the industry are helpful. Making people who want to help feel like they’re under assault is just going to make them defensive (like I am now) and trigger a backlash. Making them feel like it is a lost cause and they’ll give up trying to improve. Plus, the problem isn’t going to get any better if women are scared away because the media has given the impression that all of tech is sexist and toxic.

Sure there are male toxic workplaces, but not all of them are toxic. Silicon Valley has really tried to reform and give women the environments they want. Yes anyone who doesn't have the liberal point of view is racist, sexist, white nationalist, Nazi, etc. That is what caused Trump to win. Hillary Clinton started it with the basket full of deplorables and lost their votes.
