- nkingsy 7y agoI often walk in to codebases that are quite unified, but that unification happened too soon, resulting in a system that locks programmers into working at far too low level of abstraction. Trying to change that is nearly impossible because doing anything different would break the cohesiveness of the code. Any new abstraction must be judged against the huge downside of splitting the codebase style. IMO abstractions need to be actively and continuously fostered in the early days. Writing “simple” code to encourage cohesiveness early in a project is a missed opportunity to develop systems that illuminate the problem area.

The warehouse/workshop model is widely adaptable, simple, and reliable, and the workshops are isolated from each other. These two aspects can solve your problem.
