Only in America do we think that the party that won the election shouldnt be able to actually run the government.
- AnimalMuppet 7y agoThey do get to run it - within limits. Some of the limits are constitutional. Things that are not withing the power of the government are not within its power even when the majority wants to do them.
- thoughtstheseus 7y agoParties do not win elections, people do.
- blotter_paper 7y agoDisagree; parties win elections, people lose them.
- blotter_paper 7y ago> Of course the majority gets to decide what happens, that how government works. That's how some governments work some of the time. Even in modern democracies governments often entrench some values which they purposefully make difficult for a majority to overrule, and this is not something that America came up with. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supermajority https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supermajority No presciptive statements have been made in this comment.
