It's strange how lungs can recover most of the time from smoking but not from particles. COPD is a terrible disease my father has it along with IPF (scars on lungs). He smoked early in his life but quit around age 30. Smoking is one of the causes of COPD but so is inhaling small particles like dust and fumes.
