Ask HN: indexing the revolution (2)

In my earlier Ask-HN - I sought suggestions to index the Egyptian revolution (tweets, media, articles, posts, etc...) http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2212275 I came across Zotero http://www.zotero.org/ which does a decent job in extracting meta info about the different assets (citations). This solves the issue of centralization (later centralization efforts might be possible). Now - my question is that all web accessible forms of Zotero data are quite inadequate. I've tried both Omeka and WordPress plugins and didn't feel at home with either. Anyone has experience with Zotero public interface and/or can share experience with similar efforts?
