Pandas and numpy (which all things data science depend on) require compilation of C/C++ code which comes in addition to the download/install steps. Wheel files can contain precompiled .so files.
- mwarkentin 7y agoSome of the libraries which can be very slow to install due to compilation that we've ended up building our own alpine-compatible wheels for: Pillow PyXB cffi cryptography gevent lxml msgpack-python psycopg2 pycrypto uWSGI
