I think the OS would benefit from not only keeping apps on the screen but objects that are acted upon by apps. there is little reason why it cannot go both ways

I think the OS would benefit from not only keeping apps on the screen but objects that are acted upon by apps. there is little reason why it cannot go both ways, desktops don't care if you click an app or object/file/etc.
