Using performance as a synonym for only runtime speed doesn't feel satisfying. Shouldn't we include quality of results, such as correctness and fulfillment of requirements, in the evaluation of whether a program performs well?
- skohan 7y agoPerformance has a variety of contextual meanings. Market performance would be an example. When talking about execution performance, we're usually talking about speed/smoothness, under the assumption that a program is already correct and complete. If we overload this to include basic correctness, we would need another term to capture these other qualities.
