  Hey - me too! Had he recently had a stroke prior to that conference? I don't remember the details but thought something about bright lights really bothered him. Of note: I don't think he started his PHD until he was 50. I wish more people at this stage of their lives pursued his sort of deep, meaningful research combined with personal reflection and experience.

    Yes, he had a stroke in the summer of 2010.
