Can't you be content with the fact that your work impacts and improves the lives of billions of people? What gives you the right to maintain a stranglehold over a market and drive off competition simply because you were lucky enough to be first to implement an idea, or had the fortune to have enough resources to stick it through the hard times? Also note that companies are far from honest in this work - just look at what Google is doing to erode the web platform, and how it is leveraging it's search monopoly to drive businesses towards paying for ads.
