That was one hell of a downer to wake up to. I was in the sciences for a short stint (behavioral neuroscience) and could see the drudgery and political limitations from a mile away. I made a very clear decision to put all that stuff on hold until I could somehow get involved in the sciences privately. I suppose that might be a pie in the sky thought, but it's better than filling out (scarcely granted) grant proposals all day.
