Why the racial qualifier?
- ggm 7y agoThere are two tropes here: the dwm, and the whiner. Why do you think your whining is better than their pejorative?
- andrepd 7y agoDon't start a flame war.
- ggm 7y agoYou're right. I regretted posting it shortly after.
- Yessing 7y agothe dwm? "Desktop Window Manager"?
- Yessing 7y agoto clarify I'm asking about the meaning of dwm. The only term that I'm familiar with, and that shows up in google is Desktop Window Manager.
- ggm 7y agohttps://public.oed.com/blog/march-2014-update-new-words-notes/ https://public.oed.com/blog/march-2014-update-new-words-note... The phrase dead white male (abbreviated DWM), has been used since the mid-1980s as a term of disparagement for male authors and academics of European ancestry whose pre-eminence, especially in academic study, is challenged as being disproportionate to their cultural significance, and attributed to a historical bias in favour of their gender and ethnicity.
- ngcc_hk 7y agoIt is not racial. Just fact. The philosophy of science needed to be diversified. I tried to counter it by doing a live reporter which I guess is at least an alive man. I hope there would be alive non-white woman chip in.
