PwC was easy enough to search for to answer my own question. But I have to ask if it is really well known itself for an article not to even spell it out, much less explain what the business is and its relevance to the situation?
- stefan_ 7y agoPwC is literally the name of the company. This is like complaining IBM wasn't expanded to 'International Business Machines'.
- detaro 7y agoAs far as I know most of the companies (and certainly the core one) are called "PricewaterhouseCoopers $something", even if they use the "PwC" brand as much as possible.
- panarky 7y agoIt's the firm's name just like DHL, IKEA, AT&T, CVS, 3M, GEICO, etc.
- flyingcircus3 7y agoIt's just that accounting firms don't achieve the brand recognition the other companies you mentioned have, until they've been implicated in corruption scandals. Thats also usually about the time they change their name to something like Accenture.
- andromeduck 7y agoKPMG, E&Y - not without their own scandals but I don't think it's really a factor for recognition.
- m463 7y agoGood time to reference Elon Musk's "Acronyms Seriously Suck" memo.
