Fortran On Fighter-Jets
- greglindahl 7y agoSuper-sonic fighter jets probably were designed using a lot of Fortran.
- 7thaccount 7y agoFor sure, but their avionics software is written in Ada or C++.
- greglindahl 7y agoAnd that's relevant, because... ?
- 7thaccount 7y agoHow is it not? Someone said something about fighter jets being written in Fortran. Someone corrected them saying they aren't, but they are modeled using Fortran. I tried to add to the conversation by saying what they were written in assuming that would also be of interest to the person who made the original comment. I'm sorry this has perturbed you.
- greglindahl 7y agoAh. Thanks for the explanation.
- 7thaccount 7y agoLol no biggie. Your bio seem pretty awesome btw! What technologies have you used to do all that?
- raattgift 7y agoThere is likely a lot more railway traffic control software written in Simula ( "The basic simulation kernel, the TTS module based on the SIMON/TTS system, is today implemented in Simula and running on a UNIX platform." https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/ed7e/d90fbc57b7ee0473d41edbd0d889e2b4300b.pdf https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/ed7e/d90fbc57b7ee0473d41edb...
