Regardless of trade, I never approve of this mentality as the "shit" rarely gets done responsibly or sufficiently, as that cannot be done without fully understanding at least the chosen implementation. Perfectionism is not required, and can get in the way of professionalism. This is about a minimum amount of responsibility. (Learning is different though.)
