- dgellow 7y ago> With a Python-compatible syntax and a host of domain-specific features and optimizations, Seq makes writing high-performance genomics software as easy as writing Python code, and achieves performance comparable to (and in many cases better than) C/C++. They seem to have a need for better performances.

- mhenders 7y agoThey are also doing some interesting work to allow pipelines to run in parallel. https://github.com/seq-lang/Tapir-LLVM https://github.com/seq-lang/Tapir-LLVM https://seq-lang.org/tutorial.html?highlight=tapir#parallelism https://seq-lang.org/tutorial.html?highlight=tapir#paralleli...
- AllegedAlec 7y agoBecause this is the precise situation for which you'd want a domain specific language. You have a group of people who are not expert programmers, so pure C/C++ is quite annoying to write, and python's performance on the type of datasets used by these researchers is abysmally slow.
