I would say the entire concept of "retirement" is what depletes generational wealth in those capable of building it. Not that generational wealth should be a goal, as it only concentrates wealth in the hands of the most wealthy -- I don't think it's an accident that wealth inequality hockey-sticked around the time the estate tax was repealed.
