How can there be a right to something that someone else has to provide?
With speech you can talk, no one has to listen. But with food, housing, internet access, _someone_ has to provide it.
- knowtheory 16y agoLikewise with education and defense, no?
- electromagnetic 16y ago> But with food, housing ... _someone_ has to provide it. No they don't. You can provide it for yourself, you might not get the latter to meet local standards easily, but then here in Canada you can build a shack out in the country so long as you vacate if loggers roll in. You might end up sharing it with a bear, but that's why you buy a gun and then you're providing your own defence too.
- thematt 16y agoJust because someone has to provide it doesn't mean it has to be provided for free. It could simply mean that it can't be denied.
