My biggest takeaway from this is that Wendy's standards are surprisingly high. Why do they require a net worth of $5 million when most seem to top out at $1 million? Is it a way of ensuring a lower closure rate as people with $5 million net worth are less likely to go bankrupt and shut down the restaurant?
- virtuous_signal 7y agoThis website[1] says that $5mm net worth standard is for multiunit franchisees, whereas it's $1mm[2] for (presumably) a single store [1]https://www.thebalancesmb.com/most-popular-food-franchises-and-how-much-they-cost-1350254 https://www.thebalancesmb.com/most-popular-food-franchises-a... - ganoushoreilly 7y agoWhat's even more weird to me is that they have these high franchise standards, but apparently they don't seem to hold the franchises to high standards (at least not the stores I visit). They're always dirty / unkempt.
- sosodev 7y agoThe Wendy’s near me are all pretty high quality
- turk73 7y agoThe two Wendy's near us are both pretty awful. I'm sure it depends on the owners. But yeah, we don't go there anymore. Also the Arby's--kids got sick 2x at the local Arby's. We don't even eat a lot of fast food, just occasionally when we need to get out of the house and go someplace nearby in the winter.
- ficklepickle 7y agoThat's interesting! In Canada, the Wendy's I have been to are generally very clean.
