You're doing it wrong. The way most people use it is they type enough letters to be specific enough then hit tab to fill in the rest. For example in intellij

You're doing it wrong. The way most people use it is they type enough letters to be specific enough then hit tab to fill in the rest. For example in intellij I'd type something like "my" then hit tab immediately.
