If you want to do something about climate change, consider working at a company fighting some aspect of it, whether it be wind energy, carbon removal, electric vehicles or something else.
We started Dolphin (http://withdolphin.com/ http://withdolphin.com/) to create an easy way for people to find impactful jobs tackling climate change. Hope it's helpful to anyone considering a career shift.
- evanlivingston 7y agoPlease please plese, please, please don't make me install an app.
- mc3 7y agoAlso, by making them available on the WWW, you will get SEO traffic, and the reduced friction will get more people applying for jobs.
- arbitrary_name 7y agogreat idea, but I bounced as soon as I saw I needed to download an app...
- hanniabu 7y agoAgree with the others. I'm looking for a job now and wanted to check this out, but downloading an app for it is simply a no go. Even if I had the storage available in my phone, which I don't. I'm sure there's many others with this same opinion but you just aren't aware because you can't see the number of upvotes on the comments, which lead me to comment too.
- evanlivingston 7y agoI was just thinking the same thing. 26 upvotes on my sibling comment.
- Can_Not 7y agoWhere is the sign up form? I couldn't find any listings or a place to register.
- vincent-toups 7y agoYeah, just commenting to say no to installing an app.
- kmonsen 7y agoWhat do you consider a company fighting climate change? Not sure how space x or waymo ends up on this list. Or Betterment and Wealthfront.
- snowwrestler 7y agoI don't mind installing an app and I don't really understand why people object to it. Apps uninstall even easier than they install, at least on an iPhone. That said... - You don't need to know the name of my college to serve me some job listings. - I double majored in STEM and humanities, but your app will only let me specify one or the other area of concentration. - You also don't need to know what year I graduated college. In fact it may not be legal to ask as it can be used as a proxy for age, which is protected under equal employment regs.
- anticensor 7y ago> it can be used as a proxy for age Why do you assume only young people starts college? Graduation year and school name are sometimes needed for verifying the accreditation status of accredited programs such as law.
- tgsovlerkhgsel 7y ago- Apps uninstall harder than closing a web site. - Apps have access to way more permissions, abilities and data than web sites (at least on Android). - Apps tend to be pushed by entities that are trying to exploit the two above-mentioned things for their own benefit and the detriment of the user.
- AndrewThrowaway 7y agoDoes anybody even use apps in 2020 anymore? I understand that games, camera, music, maybe something else requires an app. But why make people to install an app for what is obviously a website?
