How about "It just took me a while to find the next thing I wanted to do." Then your explanation make sense whether they think you took a break or find out that you left a job quickly.
- drcross 7y agoOr how about they tell the truth that the job wasn't as advertised and stop worrying about convincing some hypothetical HQ person.
- JohnFen 7y agoI would be very careful about saying anything that could be taken as being disparaging about past employers to potential employers. That rarely puts you in a positive light no matter how accurate your assessment is. Better to say another form of the truth: the company was a poor fit.
