It's interesting what they said near the end... Most of the cost of a project like this isn't going to be spent on the actual drilling. Most of it will go into supporting the people who are supporting the infrastructure that enables the drill team to do the work of doing the actual drilling... I've just finished applied for a government grant, and am starting to realize just how inefficient these projects need to be to support the people doing the work. I've probably underestimated my own costs by a lot, and allocated too much toward the actual science I'll be doing.
