- wayoutthere 7y agoWow. The author shows an astounding lack of perspective if he doesn't see the problem with either of these. He presents some data in the second link, but throws away any credibility he has by justifying the countless examples of violence and intimidation against women in the industry as being backed up by whatever hand-picked statistics he wants. Reactionary politics at its finest. World's smallest violin; this guy is lucky to still have a job at all.
- dash2 7y agoCould you give quotes to support the claim that he "justifies examples of violence and intimidation against women in the industry"? I read the article - did I miss that part?
- wayoutthere 7y agoBy ignoring the numerous examples of violence (usually sexual) and intimidation that dissuade women from participating in the field. He confuses cause for effect in his quest to justify his pre-existing beliefs.
- DuskStar 7y agoSounds like you're doing a bit of the same, and assuming that without discrimination outcomes would be different while ignoring any examples of cross-culture gender differences.
- josteink 7y ago> Could you give quotes to support the claim that he "justifies examples of violence and intimidation against women in the industry"? I read the article - did I miss that part? It's a cultural thing. Some people (particularly among the younger generation or in the trans-community) seems to equate having their opinions challenged count as some form of "violence" and intimidation. These people don't want a discussion, unless everyone up front agrees to only agree to their point of view. And somehow they are gaining ground, killing rational debate and freedom of speech, one tiny little step at a time, all in the name of tolerance and freedom.
