That was an interesting observation, that lidar might actually be unnecessary by use of visual image processing. I always thought Tesla made a terrible choice in precluding (expensive) lidar and said if humans can drive safely without lidar, just using visual processing, so should cars (eventually). Surprising but I guess it may turn out that way.
