Since no price was mentioned, and given the tech specs, what's the maximum price HN'ers would pay for the TouchPad? Any takers?

- YooLi 16y agoMax == as much as the iPad (which ever model is out when this actually ships). I think most will agree the TouchPad will be out when the iPad 2 is, and based on rumors the hardware should be comparable. It then becomes a question of which OS/apps you prefer but that's not enough that one device should be priced much more than the other.
- mgkimsal 16y ago$400. I might pay a bit more, but I'd love to see it at a $299 price point. Or perhaps an ability to buy in bulk for client projects at $299.
- kaiwetzel 16y agoWhat's the point, though, at any price point? It's vapor ware, looks like a thick and heavy Samsung Galaxy tab rip-off and it doesn't even run Android. Maybe hospitals can make use of it if it's dish-washer proof but other than that it's a liability, not a product.
- kenjackson 16y ago$450. Has to be cheaper than the iPad2, especially since the iPad2 may come in at 1.25lbs. At $450 they have a hit on their hands. At $600 they struggle to move them.
- mistermann 16y agoIf its almost as "good" as the iPad, and more open (there are so many things you can't do on the iOS platform), I would pay a premium of say $100. But I suspect it will be quite a while before anyone else can even match the iPad1, let alone what iPad2 will be like. Apple's products are soooooo much better (if you ignore the shortcomings, which are 90% of the time deliberate) it's almost like alien technology. I am a Microsoft guy, but I love Apple's products lately.
- kaiwetzel 16y ago$10 so my beautiful ($250) vacuum cleaner can look down to it. In all seriousness, they would have to pay me $50/day (minimum) to carry such a heavy, ugly, thick and totally uninspiring gadget around. What has become of a company which bought Compaq just a few years ago? (or,wait, was it the other way around?)
