- The_rationalist 7y agoAnd the changelog shorter and shorter. Not only can't they catch up, but the feature gap keeps increasing.
- eitland 7y agoCompared to Chrome you mean?
- close04 7y agoIt's also good marketing for regular users. When Chrome introduced this versioning style every other software was stuck in minor versions for years. Regular users started assuming that Chrome must be better since it gets major versions constantly. I don't mind either option but I would love to see some sort of date based version in there, like Firefox 72 (20.01).
- jeltz 7y agoThe changelog is shorter because they have changed to a more frequent release schedule, to once every 4 weeks from once every 6-8 weeks. https://hacks.mozilla.org/2019/09/moving-firefox-to-a-faster-4-week-release-cycle/ https://hacks.mozilla.org/2019/09/moving-firefox-to-a-faster...
- jdlyga 7y agoThey're moving to a monthly system. Continuous integration, continuous delivery I guess.
