- jedberg 7y agoThat's called human curation. You're just putting the curation onus on me. Too much work. I'll just watch one of the many other services that do it for me.
- wolco 7y agoUse the family approved whitelist bundle your church has put out? It still can be someone else's problem.
- bduerst 7y agoIsn't that what playlists are for?
- jedberg 7y agoBut why? Every other streaming service for kids does this for me. YouTube definitely doesn't have anything special enough to warrant any special effort. Also, they still don't make it easy to lock down to just that content on every platform. I don't have to worry about this with the PBS Kids app. I know that no matter where it runs it will be safe. My house, grandma's house, whatever. Same with Netflix Kids. I don't have to worry about it having bad content anywhere my kid figures out how to use it.
- mda 7y agoThere are other things but first thing that comes to mind is tgat Youtube has several orders of magnitude more content than others. Netflix is not a similar service.
- ballenf 7y agoIt feels strange to me to compare a user-generated content site with a more traditional media platform. And then complain that the former doesn’t work like the latter. I’ve never really understood how YouTube Kids was even a thing.
- iainmerrick 7y agoOr just don’t use YouTube, that’s even easier. I’m not arguing that YT is inherently bad for all purposes; just that, in this situation where you want to watch kid’s videos and be confident all the material will be age-appropriate, there are lots of apps that are simpler and better. Rather than installing YouTube and whitelisting PBS Kids, why not just install the PBS Kids app instead?
