CL is a Lisp-2, and it's not unusable, so either #'readmacros are good enough or there's something else going on to balance out the ambiguity. EDIT: I see what you're saying now, it's a Lisp-2. They can share the same name at the same time, not just 1 name referring to one value or the other.
