DISCLAIMER - Im the CEO of Coralogix.com ELK can be pretty expensive and is kind of a pain to manage. for simple use cases though, hosted ELK by AWS should do the trick and wouldn't cost too much. Small startups and dev shops should choose a SaaS logging too l since most of them start and 10$-30$ which is cheaper than anything you'll spin on our own. Looking at the market right now, looks like logs, metrics, and SIEM are going to combine in the next 2-3 years.
