I always write the abbreviated month and full year unless I'm explicitly instructed to otherwise. Basically, I do this on all documents: 4 Jan 2020 It's short and clear. I guess I should start putting a zero in front, but that's far less of a concern than modifying the year or the month (e.g. 1 -> 4 or 7, 3 -> 8 or 9). I try to do as much digitally as possible, which eliminates most of those types of attacks.
