In the US, I thought it was already either illegal or legally risky for an employer to ask a candidate about their marriage status.
- alistairSH 7y agoState law dictates the legality. There is no federal protection. About half the states list marital status as a protected class.
- JohnFen 7y agoMarital status is not a protected class under federal law, but almost all states have adopted it as such under state law.
