Clickbait title. Actual content: Amazon threatens disciplinary action against employees who speak in public as an Amazon employee (i.e. under the Amazon banner) on any issue without prior HR (and presumably legal) approval. This happened after some Amazon employees spoke out on climate change.
Seems like something that any company would require, if you ask me.
Much as I loath Amazon, this is just using their poor reputation in employee relations to generate clicks. Sad to see how far BBC has fallen.
- khawkins 7y agoGiven that Amazon employs tens of thousands of people, there's certainly a non-trivial number of employees who support anti-vax causes. It would be ludicrous to suggest that any group of employees can borrow the trademark and branding of their company to push their preferred social causes. Obvious PR disaster if the "Amazon workers against vaccines" organization started trending.

- aguyfromnb 7y ago>Sad to see how far BBC has fallen. What's really sad is that people like Donald Trump and Elon Musk railing on "fake news" has conned people into thinking every headline or nuance in an article represents some over-arching agenda. The headline even uses "threatens to fire" in quotes, because that information came from a press release, which you can see right there in the article. Straight reporting. But sure, chalk it up to "how far the BBC has fallen".
- SubuSS 7y agoI don't think OP was referring to 'threatens to fire' as the clickbaity part: It is the unqualified 'climate change activists' part. In reality it is folks using their Amazon badge to portray as if they're speaking for Amazon without HR approval.
