We weren't but given the choice (false dichotomy, obviously) of teachers hitting kids with rulers for being out of line or having someone who is trained to see everything through the lens of "what charges can we toss at this, what law is being violated" patrolling every school I would choose the former in a heartbeat. Kids hit with rulers is a diffuse bad thing. Kids catching criminal charges is a concentrated bad thing.
- learc83 7y ago> Kids catching criminal charges is a concentrated bad thing. That is something that's definitely worse today for white kids. If you were a black kid 60 years ago, it was much worse than it is today.
- dsfyu404ed 7y agoSo what's your point? We as a society should screw more white kids because they're not being screwed as hard as the black kids? Sounds like a good argument to have school resource officers nowhere if you ask me.
- learc83 7y agoMy point is that the the good old days weren't the good old days.
- dsfyu404ed 7y agoThey weren't the good old days for everyone or in every way but only a moron is going to look at the past and say they got nothing right. Not having cops in schools was something they got right in the past.
- learc83 7y agoI'm not really sure why you seem so intent on arguing with straw men.
- tehwebguy 7y agoI don’t think the generation of adults that were allowed to be hit by teachers as kids are any kind of moral leadership in general.
