Scribus, and I'm DocBook/LaTeX junkie. Might not work for everyone, but I put out a lot of long forms and policy stuff.
I pipe through calibre for painless format shifting, as well.
- omnimus 7y agoIt does not work for everyone unfortunately. Scribus is terrible for design work. Fine for setting prose but doing more complex layouts is pain. Unfortunately typesetting is so niche that there is no way it would get better. I wish affinity was on linux.
- trynewideas 7y agoThey ever fix text selection in Scribus on Windows? EDIT: Just installed 1.5.5 and nope, they haven't. Still no triple-click line or paragraph selection. Still no double-click-and-drag to select multiple words. Still only Ctrl+double-click to select a whole paragraph. The same patterns to select text on every other piece of software on my computer don't work in this software designed to publish text. I have no idea how y'all work with this stuff. GIMP and Scribus put basic functionality behind an obscurity gate, and then folks wonder why so many people have such a negative reaction to how they work. EDIT: Yeah, I do still subscribe to the ticket filed THIRTEEN YEARS AGO to implement it. https://bugs.scribus.net/view.php?id=4303 https://bugs.scribus.net/view.php?id=4303
- washadjeffmad 7y agoI guess I never noticed because I don't use Windows and wasn't weaned on Adobe products. Have you tried starting a bounty, or better, a Linux VM?
