I really think this inequality is caused by technology.
Generally throughout history, investment in technology helped the bourgeois factory owners reduce their manual labor costs. Think about advancement in factory automation replacing workers.
Now instead of replacing factory workers, we're replacing (or supplementing) knowledge workers with more technology, and again the bourgeois benefits more than the workers do.
The pro-capitalist counter-arguement to this is "when the economy shifts, manual factory jobs move to automation maintenance and development" - i.e. who builds and fixes the robots?
A much smaller number of people have the ability to build & maintain automation systems, and typically these people are oppressed by the same power structure of inequalities. The bourgeois own the company that provides the automation, and the workers make tiny fractions of the profits. (Think Jeff Bezos money vs. Amazon software engineer money).
I'm not saying that people who create successful new companies shouldn't receive benefits. I'm saying that various American policy enforces the inequities.
E.g., healthcare and insurance is extremely expensive for start-ups. Much more affordable for big companies. As a worker, the healthcare costs may prevent my from being able to afford leaving my corporate job (and therefore, I will be stuck as a member of the proletariat forever).
And there are many policies and systems that oppress Americans. Student loans, bureaucracy, over-inflated housing markets, etc.
