Of course you don’t worry about the future you’re a rich tech worker. My neighbors are 60-80 years old. They never benefited from the salary gains. House prices have doubled in 6 years in the Peninsula. How the hell can retirees afford to pay for property taxes that go to over $2000/month? They just want to live in peace and sell their house when they are ready to sell, not when they are forced to because employees at Netflix made 500k+ and their stock went up 43x in 10 years. No one can compete against that when you’re lucky like that. Prop 13 is great for creating stability. As a home owner myself I don’t care that I’m paying 20x, I care that my future property taxes won’t drive me out of my house.
