Probably unpopular idea on HN, but my company synchronize digital ads with TV commercials for this exact reason.
When we detect a commercial on the TV for a brand, we run instantly ads on Facebook for the same brand.
- TeMPOraL 7y agoDefinitely going to be unpopular. But good to finally have a confirmation that this is actually being done, and done automatically. I guess there's no escape now (at least for those who don't use ad blockers). Myself, I'm going to add this to my ever-growing article about negative impacts of advertising.

- tinus_hn 7y agoYou could do this without targeting that narrowly using the ads that are broadcast on popular channels.
