I remember when I went to university, that in first year the biggest difference was between those who went to private schools and public schools. In private schools, the schools were stricter on attendance and teachers, helped you in such a manner that you didn't know how to help yourself. Whereas at public school, teachers didn't care if you attended class. teachers would help you if you didn't understand something, but in a manner that helped you be more self sufficient. I think, at least with my group of friends, those from private schools had more growing up to do in a shorter period because they came from schools that over-supported them, so they weren't prepared to be self sufficient.
