That doesn’t rule out foreground objects at all. Kuiper belt objects are distinctly red, as we learned from New Horizons, and so far away that they wouldn’t noticeably move over 45min.
- teilo 7y agoThe question is whether such Kuiper objects would show up on the old POSS plates. I don't know enough about that, so I yield to those who do. It certainly seems a more plausible explanation.
