Just to give some context, there are widespread protests ongoing about the Citizenship Amendment and National Registry of Citizen.
Both together will achieve what ICE can only dream of in US: detention of legal citizens by whatever means necessary because they don't fit the government's idea of a Hindu state.
My country is burning. I'm protesting tomorrow (Bangalore), and you should too if you want this country to remain the secular democracy it was born as.
There are a string of internet shutdowns happening as the government tries to clamp on the protest. If you can help with tech, please reach out. We are trying to learn from HK protests, but India is a much larger country and not everything scales. We need all the help we can get.
India currently has the world's majority share of Internet Shutdowns (100+ in 2019, and the number hasn't been updated since July). (65% of all internet shutdowns in 2019 happened in India). Kashmir hasn't been on the internet for the last 137 days, the longest internet shutdown anywhere in the world, a record I'm ashamed of.
Also, on the tech side: we need a way to stop our industry from building an NCR that discriminates people.
