I wrote https://pingtype.github.io https://pingtype.github.io to visualise tones in pinyin, using colour and font size. It helped me learn to read Hanzi, and sing along in church, even pick up some vocabulary for listening, but I always struggled with speaking. Whenever I'd try to speak Mandarin, people would just switch to English immediately. Hopefully Mandarin tone trainer will help!
